In 1947 Ora X McClellan established Shore Awning at 309 Main Street in Avon, NJ. A small storefront shop, Shore Awning began by offering window awnings and upholstery. The company quickly grew and Ora moved to a larger warehouse. As his children grew, they helped out after school and on weekends. Mike took an immediate interest in the business and learned as much as possible.
